Beach Clean Up

Image
Beach Clean Up What a beautiful day to walk along the beach! Today we walked down to Shearer's Reserve to have a play and some morning tea before we picked up the rubbish from the Campground down to the NPOB Clubrooms. We, unfortunately, found all sorts of rubbish but it is looking a lot better now! Then we headed down the beach for a swim in the river and a sausage. Thanks to all the helpers today, parents who walked with us, FOOS for the sausages, and Mr Laird for checking the river.

Marae Day

Marae Day Despite the rain we still had a lot of fun at the Marae learning poi and rakau, sharing our pepeha, creating skits to Maori legends, playing traditional games, and learning to weave.

Looking at our learning...

Looking at our learning... Writing:  We have been writing a variety of poems. One type is the shape poem. These were a lot of fun but also proved to be a bit challenging fitting our information into the shape. Reading: Prior knowledge is an important skill in reading. It helps us relate to new vocabulary and stories by linking information to things we know.

Swimming Safety

Image
Swimming Safety We brought along a spare set of clothes to wear in the pool to learn about water safety. We had to try and get the spare set of clothes off once we had fallen in the pool. This was made trickier by our pool not being very deep and we needed to keep our feet off the ground! It was a lot of fun though and we learnt that clothes make it harder to swim in and can drag us down.
