Swimming Skills

Image
Swimming We went swimming in the pool with Cecile from Swim NZ. We made big splashing waves. She taught us what to do if we got in trouble in the water. She told us that we needed to be confident in the water without googles so today we didn't wear ours. We were reminded to go down a river with rapids feet first. She showed us the difference between sculling and treading water. We enjoyed our lesson.

Cricket Skills

Cricket Skills In Room 8 we have been doing cricket skills. We have been learning about batting, catching and bowling. We learnt the pull shot in batting which is when you pull the bat around your body to the ball. We learnt that when we are catching we need to make a cup with our hands and keep our eyes on the ball. We are having heaps of fun.

Beach Education

Beach Education 2020 Highlights for us: I liked the Flags game. I liked swimming in the water. I liked falling off the boogie board. I liked the watch tower. I liked sitting in the IRB. I liked doing the relay races. I liked the life guard change race. I liked the sprints. We were reminded about calm patches, foamy water, criss cross waves, debris. Remember to slip, slop, slap and wrap. IRB - learning how this assists the life guards. Learning about rips and how we alert people to dangers. Speed changing! Life guards have to be quick to get to a rescue. Could you beat our champ at 2.5 seconds? Boogie board fun. A big thank you to all the parents who braved the water to keep our tamariki safe.
